We’re Still Moving On Up

Last month The New York Times featured an article contradicting President Trump’s claim that blacks are living in crime invested communities where a walk down the street would end with getting shot. Trump said he alone could fix it with his famous ‘what do you have to lose’ appeal to support him. Well, poor blacks may loose access to affordable, preexisting condition free healthcare, but that’s for another post.

The Times article was written by Thomas B. Edsall, and is a researched and data driven analysis of black Americans’ economic prospects. I was pleasantly surprised to read that upper middle class blacks are ascending the economic ladder at a faster rate than upper middle class whites. Still more needs to be done, especially for non-college educated blacks, and whites. Troubling the income gap between high income blacks and low income blacks is widening at astonishing rates. But for those blacks who hold a college degree and beyond their ability to weather the global economy is getting better and better. The link to the article is below.
